Today was our last full day in the Lofoten Islands before we head out to Tromsø, Norway. In true Norwegian fashion we decided to spend the day on the water and go sea kayaking.

Like all things that don’t always go as planned and our kayaking adventure was just that… an adventure. We made it to the town square at 9:50am for our 10:00am pickup, we waited and waited. Finally the owner of the company called to let us know that they guide hadn’t seen us in town (this is a really, really small town… and it’s highly unlikely that we would have missed a van towing kayaks) so he would be taking us out instead.

Overall the trip was decent, we got to go kayaking in the Lofoten Islands, which was our end goal. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and we also saw a sea eagle whose wingspan was about the size of our paddles! It would have been nice if things had run a little smoother, our trip was cut a little short and we didn’t get to go to the normal drop spot (we did get a discount though which was nice) but if that’s our biggest complaint things are going well!

Next time we’d like to do a multi-day trip and camp on the beaches of Lofoten. Our future trip list is growing by the day!

We’re waiting for pictures from our kayaking guide and once we get them we’ll post them to the blog. He had a waterproof camera and advised not brining ours which was good advice.

Now we have some planning to do, we’re going to Tromsø tomorrow and have no hotel!

Happy Travels!
