Everyone is here! Melissa’s parents made it in around dinnertime last night and everyone had a chance to rest up before we headed out for the day. We had a few things to accoplish before we head out to Lukla tomorrow.

First up on our list was purchase supplies. Ryan needed a winter jacket, Brooke and Melissa needed gloves, and Mark and Diane needed coffee. Lhakpa and Jangbu brought us around Kathmandu and made sure that we stocked up on everything that we needed and then some.

After shopping we had lunch at a local spot and had that chance to try some traditional Nepalese dishes. We had Dal Bhat, MoMos and Curry. It was delicious and we decided we’d be visiting the same spot for dinner tonight.

Here’s a look at our time in Kathmandu today…

Then it was back to the hotel to rest up. We’re getting up at four am tomorrow because our flight out to the mountains is at first light. So we took the chance to relax, sleep and we even worked on packing our bags.

One interesting thing to note is that in Nepal there isn’t enough electricity to sustain the whole country. So to compensate they have planned electricity outages in Kathamandu, the country’s capital. We’ve been working around these outages to make sure everything that needs charging is charged. Now it’s time for an early dinner so that we can get to bed early.

Tomorrow it’s off to the mountains!

Happy Travels,

Brooke, Ryan & Melissa
