Today we’re headed to a town called Namche Bazar and in addition to a horrible up hill section we also had to go across a massive suspension bridge. In total we’ll have gained over 3,000 ft of elevation!

This morning Melissa was not feeling well, in fact she’s been under the weather for a few days now. We finally figured out that it’s the medication she’s been taking for her bronchitis. Since, her lunges have been better she decided to stop the medication and we’re hoping it fixes the problem and quickly!

So after an early breakfast it was off to the trail. Halfway into our hike we came across a huge suspension bridge. Diane has a slight fear of heights and this was a tall bridge, in fact it was about 300 ft tall. Ironically, Diane was up the hill and over the bridge before the rest of us made it to the bridge. Ryan ran up with her to help to her across.

Right after the bridge we had to tackle another obstacle, a ridiculous up hill! It was about a 1,000 ft in elevation gain and it sucked. However, we grit it out and made it slow and steadily. Nate kicked our butts and was waiting for us at the top. Then it was a short hike, in the snow (light snow), to the town of Namche Bazar.

Namche Bazar was actually more of a city, because of its amenities and size. It had electricity, Wi-Fi, cell service, hot showers and lots of shops. After we made it to our hotel, the Yak Hotel; it was time to place our dinner orders and grab showers. Now it’s time to sleep, we’re gaining more elevation tomorrow and we’re in major need of some rest.

Here’s a look at our hike from today…
